Actor cut ear off for role of George.

From the bushes outside of the WBD Studio Lot, I can now confirm that Michael B. Jordan has been tapped to play the Weasley twins, Fred and George, in HBO’s upcoming Harry Potter series. Showrunner Francesca Gardiner and director Mark Mylod celebrated the casting of Jordan in an Instagram Live video from the set.
“After an extraordinary search for these fan favorites we are excited to have found our Fred and George, for the price of one actor,” Gardiner said as angry Instagram comments filled the screen around her. “We would like to thank the thousands of twins that auditioned for the roles. It was tough, because in most cases one twin would nail it, while the other one fell completely flat. We could not find identical twins who both had it, so we went with someone who knows what it is like to be a twin, on screen.”
Over 70,000 twins auditioned for the coveted Weasley twin roles. Mylod shared his excitement to watch Jordan grow up in the roles in the coming years.
“Michael is a one-of-a-kind actor, I think fans are going to love how he plays the twins,” Mylod said, as he ignored death threats and slurs in the Live chat. “He has already cut off his ear to play George in later seasons. The prosthetic ear we are buying for his Fred scenes is going to put us over budget, but it is exciting to see how committed he already is to the roles.”
Harry Potter fandom continues its downward trajectory into “Star Wars Fandom” levels, as fans reacted to the news of the double casting.
“I like Michael B. Jordan,” one fan wrote on Twitter. “But I will not be watching this. In fact, I will be burning my TV on the day of the premiere and will be on any Reddit megathread for discussion of the show to call it bad. How dare you cast characters outside of my dream cast that I made up when the show was announced.”
At press time Gardiner and Mylod went halfsies on a three-headed guard dog to help protect the set.
Jordan is repped by WME and M88. The bush I hid in for this story was a Flaky Juniper that gave me a nasty rash.
